Midterm #10
It is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am
taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer
Graphics. For details, visit the immersive BC portal at
http://ImmersiveEducation.org/@/bc.
For creating my own graphic house, I used variety of shapes and changed the degree of shapes. The shapes include smiley face, clouds, sun and post. This midterm was very similar to midterm #9. However, one of the different functions was that I could bring one shape froward and backward from the another one. For example, I created the roof before the chimney but I did (right click -> bring backward).

Examine Texture Map
This is an example of flat shaded object. The cliff seems unrealistic.
This is an example of flat shaded object. The ocean seems more like 2D than 3D.
This is an example of flat shaded object. The rocks are in simple color.
This is an example of texture map. It is in a lot of different colors and shapes.
This is an example of texture map. Rockets form in many different shapes, which help to seem more realistic.
This is an example of texture map. This is similar to rocket pictures. It is interesting that surrounding walls are actually in flat shaded and objects, such as rockets, are in texture map.
Texture Map
Using texture mapping, the picture seems more realistic,
increasing quality and accuracy of the picture. The picture, in flat shaded, only
has simple color and shade; therefore, it seems unrealistic and has low
quality. For example, if you see the rims of the tank, it is hard to
distinguish between rims and body of the tank for first picture. However, for
second picture, it is much easier and more realistic to notice the rims.
Midterm #5

<Interlaced PNG File>
It is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am
taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer
Graphics. For details, visit the immersive BC portal at http://ImmersiveEducation.org/@/bc.
The difference between progressive .JPG and interlaced .PNG is that they have different loading process. Progressive .JPG loads monster picture top to bottom and interlaced .PNG loads the entire image at once.

This picture was originally from the Midterm #1 (Removing red eyes). [Explanation of removing red eyes is in post name "Midterm #1 (Red Eyes)] Using GIMP, I changed original picture, which was saved in .jpeg file type, into .gif and .png format. Although it is hard to tell the differences among three pictures, if you closely look each picture then you can notice quality of file in .jpeg is better than other two.

The original file type was in .tif but I changed and saved into three popular web formats: .jpeg, .png, and .gif. Once you open the original image (Ball.tif), then you can "save as" in different file types. You can either choose file type by clicking "Select file type (extension)" or simply typing desired file types in name box.

Rocket World is built using open simulator. It’s different from other virtual platform. It is familiar with second life.
Most common way to move around is arrow key. When text chat is open, it is not possible to move around with arrow key. Left most button is text chat.
Local chat button shows history of chatting.
Scroll on the mouse changes the perspective (Wide view or narrow view). Click on avatar’s back then it also changes the perspective (Up and Down).
There is a fly button, which makes better view. Also, you can hold your E key and C key. When you press stop flying button, then gravity comes back and the avatar goes again to the ground.
Mini-map button shows various regions. It can be resized the mini-map using mouse. Yellow dots on mini-map are indication of your friends. By double-clicking other colors of avatars, you can add them as friends.
One of advantages of having lot of friends is that you can actually use teleports.
